Ranger Led Walks

The Scottish Borders Councils Countryside Ranger Service operates a 'Guided Walks' programme all year round, including winter walks.  The programme includes farm walks, town trails, coastal walks, historical and archaeological walks and some with access for wheelchair users.

The walks vary in length from 2 miles/3.5km up to 12 miles/19km, but the great majority are suitable for all walkers including families. Special "discovery" walks for children are also provided at Harestanes during the summer.

Adults are asked to pay a small charge for the walks, but children generally go free. You are asked to leave your dog at home if taking one of these walks. Details of Ranger led walks can be found on the Events Calendar in this site, where you can search an extensive listing of events. A free booklet giving the full programme, with start points, distances and times is also available at Visitor Information Centres, or from the Harestanes Countryside Visitor Centre.
