The Buccleuch Country Ride was the first of its kind in Scotland and provides the rider with a 3-4 day ride over 57 miles on beautiful Scottish Scenery on private tracks, quiet country roads, bridleways and the open road. The British Horse Society and Scottish Natural Heritage with the co-operation of Buccleuch Estates, farmers and landowners have developed the route.
The route has been carefully way-marked and is easy to follow by using a specially prepared map and route guide available from our online shop.
Accommodation for Riders and horses too, all of which have been inspected by a TRSS trained inspector is available around the route. Facilities such as stabling, grazing, secure tack storage, parking, horse feed and even tack cleaning equipment are available at many establishments – some can even provide luggage transfer, so your visit can be easy to plan. Our customer service advisors can help book accommodation, please phone 01835 863170 or e-mail bordersinfo@visitscotland.com
Between mid May and October the route is best as estate and farm activities such as shooting or timber felling and lambing can be avoided.
